Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need my own tools and van?

Yes, you’ll need to be fully equipped to carry out installations and servicing. Having your own van and tools is essential for running your business and responding to client needs.

Can I use my own business name?

Absolutely. You can trade under your own business name, or if you’d like help coming up with one, we’re happy to assist with branding and setup.

Is this open to engineers anywhere in the UK?

Yes, we’re recruiting nationwide. Wherever you’re based in the UK, you’re welcome to apply—provided your area isn’t already taken.

What support do I get?

We’ll handle set up, marketing, lead generation, sales admin, and quoting. Plus, we’ll offer subcontract work in your area to help you build momentum.

What money do I need to get started?

This depends on how quickly you want to grow and whether you’re starting part-time or going all in. At minimum, you’ll need a van and tools. Other costs—like insurance or business registration—depend on your specific setup and goals.

Do you supply all the work?

No, we don’t supply all your work. We’ll help you get clients through marketing and leads, and we’ll subcontract work to you in your area. However, you’ll also need to use your own local connections and initiative to grow your client base.

How do I get clients of my own?

We’ll support you with a professional website, social media setup, leafleting, and a tailored marketing plan. We’ll also coach you on networking and building relationships in your local area.

How quickly can I get started?

The setup process takes about a month. Your website and social media will be up and running within that time. Keep in mind, though, that it can take 2–3 months for your website and social media to start ranking and bringing in organic enquiries.

Is my area available?

We’re only looking for one roller shutter engineer in each area of the UK. Once an area is taken, it’s no longer available—so if you’re interested, it’s best to apply soon.

What qualifications or experience do I need?

Ideally, you’ll have at least five years’ experience in servicing and installing roller shutters. Relevant qualifications (like a CSCS) are a bonus, but not essential if you have strong experience and references.

Can I start part-time?

Yes, you can launch your business while still working elsewhere and scale up as you build your client base.

Will I get training or ongoing support?

Yes, we provide full initial training on running your business, plus ongoing support and business coaching once you’re up and running.

What if I’ve never run a business before?

No problem! Our team will guide you through every step—from setup and admin to marketing and customer service—so you’re never on your own.

Do I need to arrange my own insurance?

Yes, you’ll need to arrange your own business and liability insurance. We can advise you on what’s required and recommend providers if needed.

What happens after I apply?

We’ll review your application and arrange a call to discuss your experience, goals, and whether your area is available. If it’s a good fit, we’ll guide you through the next steps to get started.

If you have any more questions, just ask—we’re here to help!
